THAT WHICH CONNECTS is not merely a dance company, but an Arts Organization advocating EVERYTHING DANCE! Founded and led by its Artistic and Executive Director, Sonia James Pennington, it is committed to curating experiences, developing opportunities and creating works of art that demonstrate the power of dance to connect the lives and stories of individuals in profound ways. Speaking volumes without words, its pieces defy limitations and restrictions placed on movement, while inspiring soul inspired self-exploration. Whether the medium is film or live performance, or even a curated dance festival, its purpose is to bring people together by tapping into connections that transcend words to touch and move the heart and spirit. THAT WHICH CONNECTS’ most notable work is “Herstory in 12 Bars”, a mixed media historical, edu-mentary illuminated by music, poetry, spoken word and dance. A live stage adaption is in the works.

As a part of the Jazz Summer Concert Series at the Camden Waterfront presented by Camden County Commissioners, That Which Connects and Symphony in C joined forces to present an enchanting “PAS DE DEUX” of classical music and dance, exploring the beauty and power of unexpected partnerships at Camden’s picturesque waterfront under the stars, which was the perfect backdrop for connecting through artistry.
